My mom is constantly asleep during the week, on weekends she is wide awake , doing word finds, watching movies etc...
It was not til this past week where the home care taker came while I was giving Mom breakfast as I called in sick for work. She suddenly asked if I had given her medications.. I replied no, she is still having breakfast..
I hate to even think this but did cross my mind home care taker may be giving her a sedative, making her sleep all day..
Is there a blood work test her Neurologist can ask for and maybe see
if in fact she is being given something or not? Please help and thank you in advance.

You can ask the caregiver point blank and give her the chance to fess up but then also "inform" her that your mom will be having a blood test that will reveal if she is being drugged. The caregiver might quit out of fear and or she will stop giving her the meds. Once the test comes back and if they indicate drugging she can not only be fired but also prosecuted with the evidence.

This is interesting. Her PCP can order a blood test. Mine can take blood right in the office and send it off.

Please come back and tell us if its found Mom is being given something. Actually, aides are not suppose to handle medications.

She could be given a blood test to check what drugs she is being given. It may be something as common as OTC benadryl.
