Is she hopefully going to get to take the CURE of Harvoni? My DH had HCV and developed primary liver cancer. Was able to receive a liver transplant 15 years ago and the HCV came back, as we knew it would.

Thank heavens for Harvoni!! He did 84 weeks of a chemo type therapy after his transplant but it didn't help. Harvoni cured him 2 years after that. Actually has about 95% cure rate.

As far as supplements such as BOOST and ENSURE, they are mostly sugar and water. A lot of additives, and not bad for a partial supplement to eating healthy, but not a way of life.

These are suppliments. Not to be used as the only thing someone eats. I think the first two ingredients are sugar and water. Not good for someone suffering from diabetes.

" People with hepatitis C should try to consume unsaturated fats, such as those in nuts and seeds, olive oil, and fish oils. It is best to limit saturated fats, such as those found in meat, full-fat dairy products, fast food, and cookies. Whole grains are a good source of dietary fiber, which promotes healthy bowel function and reduces your risk for heart disease. Whole grains include: sprouted whole-grain breads. whole wheat, buckwheat, or quinoa pastas."

Technically, anything can be "bad" if it's the only thing one consumes for the rest of their lives. That being said I have read on this forum how supplement drinks have kept their LO alive for quite a while (like a year). But your GF is only about 67-yrs old according to your profile info. Is she getting nutrients from other sources? Does she eat anything else? Does her doctor know that she (or you) feel she is needing a supplemental source of calories/nutrients? What has the doctor recommended?

Some people will tell you these kinds of supplements are bad because they aren't "natural", but they can make a real difference for those who just can't get enough calories through diet alone.

My mother has been living on Ensure since last December. It's keeping her going somehow.
