I've seen some signs of short-term memory loss, her struggle to find or remember how to spell words, but I'm also seeing more unpleasant changes. My son lives with my mother, so I also hear about some of these issues through him. For example, yesterday she was screaming at the poor Guardian Medical operator who called because she accidentally triggered her pendant (again). This is not behavior I've ever seen from her before. She seems more petty and angry. I have been concerned about depression and I think that could be a contributing factor, but I am curious about what others have experienced.
The test can be done by your Mom's primary doctor or even at urgent care. The test consist of peeing in a cup. If the test comes back positive, then the doctor will prescribe antibiotics.
Has she ever had a medical diagnosis of cognitive impairment/memory loss? Who is her PoA, if she has one? It's time to get ducks in a row so that helping her will be "easier" -- you need to know what you're dealing with and the PoA needs to be able to activate the authority now.
