Try getting a teenager out of bed. ;-)

There's not enough information in your OP to advise one way or the other, so please fill in the blanks for us. :-) That being said, I wouldn't worry too much unless your mom is in bed all day every day. If she needs extra sleep, let her sleep.

Not knowing more about your mom, but my 89 YO mom would live in her pjs if I left her. Nope,, I told that is the start of a long slide.. so she needs to get up and dressed each day, unless she is really sick. And a shower every other day.

What health situations does your mom have? Physical or mental, such as depression? Care to share a bit more?

When was her last physical examination? Is this out of character for her?

How old is your mom? What are her health issues?

My 68 yo hubby would LIVE in bed and sleep all day and night everyday for the rest of his life if I wasn't here to make him get up and do stuff.

In his case, it's depression, I believe, and just being sick and tired of working (although he loves his job!)...

His cardio doc told him (after 2 widow maker heart attacks and the placement of 4 stents!) You GET up, you SIT up and you STAY up.

Having said that--you need to have mom assessed for her baseline health. If she is actively dying, I wouldn't force her to do anything. IF she's malingering, I'd step in and make her get up for a part of each day.

We kind of need more information.
