You mention in your profile about needing affordable housing. There are senior apartments that pricing is based on income. You say that you need a single story unit. Senior apartments will be a single floor, no stairs. Elevators are available for units on the upper floors.

Best wishes to you.

Contact your local area's Council of Aging and you will get lots of information regarding resources there, or your county's Dept of Health and Human Services to speak to a social worker regarding qualifying for services or Medicaid.

Your profile says you are in NY so if you need help, you are in one of the few states that has a lot of help for seniors. There is a lot of help out there but not everyone knows how to find it.

I want to amend my last sentence. I should have said—not everyone knows how to find the help because at least in my state, programs and whatnot are not widely advertised. Not many people know to contact the area on aging when a senior needs help. In my county, the only advertising you will see is for the child support office. Kind of ridiculous IMO, they have spent all this money on a jingle & radio commercial promoting the child support office (And now have the damn song stuck in my head).....but nothing is advertised about the services for the elderly and disabled. I sometimes think it’s intentional.
