Hospital doctor came in and told mom (80) that she is at high risk of having another stroke. He prescribed Eloquis for afib. I'm googling and guessing she is still high risk, considering she's had dementia symptoms for 8 years and her MRI shows she's had other ischemic strokes. Fair assumption? I don't want to assume the blood-thinner is a cure.
Watch for side effects of the blood thinners and know that any injury could mean an ER visit for excessive bleeding.
My dad ended up peeing blood because of his blood thinners.
The person is more at risk which is why they are put on blood thinners. Those make one more at risk for a BLEED stroke, but they are much more rare than clot stroke. Discuss with doctors.
