We would like to look into the Medical Alert program for my friends elderly (85) father who lives alone. Since his income is limited to Social Security and he pays for everything himself we are wondering what income guidelines there are for him.

Make sure the family and person with the service understands the difference between a "push-button" service and an engraved medical identification bracelet or necklace. There are so many companies out there with similar names, but completely different products.

I bought my mom a bracelet from a jeweler on line named "the jewel basket". They engraved it with her name on the outside. and on the back it has my name and phone number.
Before that I went to pet co and got a very cute pink heart dog tag and had it printed with her name and our address so she could show people if she got lost.

Please contact your Area office on Aging (800-510-2020) that is a nation-wide number but it will connect you to an office in your area. They may have a program which your father may qualify for, and which may even get him a life alert system free of charge. Sadly, there are so many programs that can and will assist our seniors but they are not aware of them. He may even qualify for a "caregiver that will come in and cook and clean for him. At 85, he has "paid his dues" get him whatever you can through the available program. Good Luck
