I'm 44 years old and had been approved for an attendant care waiver but decided an independant care waiver would be a better fit for me I was approved and am now on the independant care waiver. I was told as part of this waiver program I could have some home modifications to make my home safer. I really only need one, to have my bath tub made into a shower so I can get over the side of it. I have fallen 3 times either getting in or getting out of the tub and 1 of those times I hit the back of my head on the faucet. I have a letter from my rhuemotologist stating that this is needed. He treats me for lupus. But I'm also supposed to have an in-home-evaluation and am having no help with ordering this through my primary care physician. He is a very nice doctor but his staff is ridiculous at times with returning messages or relating them to the doctor. I've called so many times over this last year that I've lost count and have gotten no help or even acknowledgement concerning this subject. Can Wayne County Area Agency on Aging order the in-house evaluation or even contact my primary care physician on my behalf to have it completed so I can start getting the bath tub made safe? I have been trying to get this all taken care of for more than a year and am frustrated at this point. I hope something can be done to help me. Thank you.

Are you on disability, if so have you asked your case manager?

Looks like they serve "seniors and people with disabilities." You might call and see if they can offer some assistance.
