It depends where you live, but here's what Google has to say:

How much does an Overnight Caregiver make hourly in the United States? The average hourly wage for an Overnight Caregiver in the United States is $15 as of November 25, 2019, but the salary range typically falls between $14 and $17.

Even though the care giver you are hiring may only be sleeping, she still has to be available to perform care giving duties if need be. Therefore, a regular care giving rate would apply, regardless of whether she's sleeping the entire time or performing care giving duties.

Why is that person needed? Regardless, there is a reason that I assume is caregiving in case something happens in the night. That is still caregiving. Call around, there may be agencies that would do a flat rate, but for liability reasons I would not think so. That person is still responsible for someone else and expected to be available if needed.

Is there a college near you that might have a student needing housing? Maybe a small stipend in exchange? Shooting from the hip, here.

It depends. Agency or independent?Cheaper in price if they are independent and they won’t be bonded if independent. Think about what you are comfortable with and what you can afford.

There are good and bad caregivers in each field.

That's super cheap. Where I live the bottom end with a private person working cheaply would be about $200 for 10 hours. A lower priced agency about $300. A midrange agency $400.

??? Why do you need someone sleeping?

i think you would not write a job description that says...job requirement: sleep.

i know I am being a bit bratty here, but, come on... you want someone to be instantly awake at whatever hour, however often, to be responsible to handle whatever situation arises.

so, what does that mean in hourly rates? I think you would be looking at $15-$18 per hour without an agency involved. Or, about $100 for 8 hours overnight.

IMHO, I have trouble believing that the loved one will be sleeping through the night.   If LO sleeps currently, it can change.
