I have had some trust issues with friends most of my life, not to say I don't or didn't have friends. My friends' Mom were the ones I was close with and my own was pretty jealous of them without even really knowing any of them.

In the past few year a lot of my friends parents have passed away. They say at least you have your mom.

I'm asking this because I texted a friend tonight because I was feeling nostalgic. This is one who I basically let go of last year when I felt it was toxic to hold onto it.

Just any input would be welcome. For the record my Mom has needled me this past year about this friend and has always blamed this friend for turning me against me against mom?? Not true.

This is probably another thing I can get sorted after Mom moves out.

Maybe it's me but I am a bit confused. With that being said I wonder if it might be best to let this go as obviously there is the aging issue and the passing of many.

When I had to place my mother in AL I had issues with both family and some friends of my mother's. I didn't with others but now none of these friends of hers are no longer alive. I haven't had issues with friends of mine own regarding any of this. They understood the need for her to be placed and their parents are no longer alive. There is really only one couple my mother can remember as she spent holidays with them at their house as well as mine. The husband has had a serious stroke and my mother often asks about them. Although she has known others she can't really recall them and it is too difficult to try to explain them to her since my mother has also had a stroke.

This may not be what you are asking but as I deal with my mother's aging I try to keep situations as simple and pleasant as possible. I have to say since being on this site I have gained great insight and I do my best not to stress over the past and much of what I cannot control with the present. I hope you find some peace with your situation.
