I have never done anything like this before and I just need some guidance. Is there anyone that might be able to help.

Stoney definately utilize this forum for advice, feedback and support.

First thing you will need to do is consult with an eldercare attorney that specializes in Mediciad Long Term Care. You may have funds now but facilities are expensive and money may run out quicker than anticipated. It is best to get all the information and documentation needed if not in place already. Each state has specific regulations that the attorney has knowlege to navigate you through the process.

You ask a very broad question. There are many that can help. If you ask more specifice questions and give more information as to why facility is required the answers will be more helpful to your situation.

There is a magnifying glass at the top of your screen for searches that is very good to gain knowledge and insight to a lot of questions you may have.

Wishing you strength during this difficult transition.

We can all help.
Tell us all about Dad, and about yourself.
We need to know his diagnosis, why he will need care, who he currently lives with, where the two of you live in relation to one another, if you are already his POA and only living kin.

Ask us one question at a time and we will attempt to give you some guidance. We all started right where you are, on step one scratching our heads.

Can tell us specifically what questions you have about it? This is a global forum and we don't even know under what circumstances your Dad is needing to go into care... Does he have dementia? Or a medical condition, likek a stroke? Are you his PoA? What state is he living in? More information would be helpful.
