People say they will give me time off, but never do. I want to help her stay in her house. Any financial programs out there that can help me?

Find Care & Housing
With your problems, I don't think you should be caring for a person who suffers from Dementia. The stress alone I think would trigger a problem with ur bipolar and other problems. Do not use her money to add onto your home. Medicaid will count it as a gift and you'd have to pay it back.

Is Mom low income? She may qualify for homecare thru Medicaid. Or, Medicaid for her care in LTC.

Thanks for your feedback, mom is not low income and therefore doesn’t qualify for Medicaid. I was going to close in the back porch to make the bathroom/laundry room with her money, that wouldn’t be a gift then right? I’m the only child that even cares what happens to mom out of four, I can’t not be there. Not all my days with taking care of her are bad, I was having a bad one when I signed into this website though. I truly believe I will get a lot of support from here. I have a psychiatrist and therapist that I work with closely ( every week) they are there for me in my mental incapacity. I have lived with being bi-polar my whole life and I’m always going to live with it so I am learning in therapy how to manage my triggers. Being able to express myself was a huge move in the right direction for me. Again thx for your input😊

With your own health and mental health situation, you may not have the capacity to help her stay in her home.

Thx for your insight, believe me there are days when I wonder the same thing! I’ve been in therapy and actively see my psychiatrist on a regular basis. This support system along with meds and group interact has shown me how to identify my triggers and also know when to step back. Being able to share on this format is a great tool for me now that I know it exists. Pain shared is pain lessened. Thankyou for your concern, I’m looking into ways to get mom some outside help at least two days a week to give me some “Jodie time”

Don’t sacrifice your entire life. You will regret it. You deserve a life too.

Thx for your help, I’m currently working on getting the help I need to give me some free time for myself. I can’t help her if I’m not together myself and taking care of me has to be uppermost now in my life, again thx
