If someone is indigent, how does a nursing home get paid before Medicaid kicks in?

The nursing home may even be willing to handle the Medicaid application themselves if the situation is relatively simple.

You find a nursing home that will receive them Medicaid pending. Once Medicaid is approved the nursing home receives back pay for the time they were in awaiting Medicaid approval.
