I would like to know if a retired veteran can get assistance helping with his wife who has dementia. He is caring for her at home.

Were you in during Wartime? If so, you may becable to get Aid and Attendance. Contact your County VA dept. If not close by, your local VFW or American legion.

Was she also a veteran? Are you referring to receiving assistance to aid vets?
Call your local Council on Aging and look at the va.gov website too.
