Some reviews are negative. others are good. Do I want to avoid? Any red flags?

Just an update. AdaptHealth has been aggressively calling me and I've now taken the step of blocking them. Despite them verbally agreeing to stop calling me they've done the exact opposite. I'm one step away from filing a complaint with Medicare

Sometimes, firsttimer1, people find that a little white lie works. The worst complaint people seem to have about some agencies hired to help is their dogged pursuit when you don't want them. This is the little lie that works. 1. My mother is no longer in need of a bed at all. You can also block calls. You can also hang up.
Good luck. I am sure it's frustrating, and at times makes you want to grind your teeth.

I agree with others. Community EMS actually donated a bed to us for my husband. Since he’s now on hospice, the agency we deal with stated they would have provided one if we did not have one. I wish it raised up and down like a hospital bed, but it’s better than nothing. Good luck on your search.

They called again. They're cancelling the order. Based on what i read, my experience and what's been posted here. it sounds like they are bad news.

Why are you considering Adapthealth? Were you directed here by her insurance provider?
If you are making this purchase yourself, I would steer clear of Adapthealth and find another Durable Medical Equipment supply company. Start by Googling Hospital Bed, and find where it leads you. You may have a reputable medical supply company in your locale, which means you can deal with someone face-to-face, and probably get it delivered and set up.

What I find troubling about Adapthealth, is there is no product on their website. I don't know how you find what you want. It is a supplier which is contracted with big insurance companies. You don't really get a choice of the equipment or supplies you want, you just get what the insurance company approves. And, it requires a doctor's prescription.

I think I bought the last hospital bed for my husband from MedMart. You can compare all the choices and features and costs online, educating yourself before you buy. Another medical supply company I trust and have been really happy with is Vitality Medical. Anything I am paying for myself, I order from Vitality Medical. I don't have a choice in where insurance covered products come from.

We dealt with adapt several times but not for a bed. They were money hungry money grabbing unprofessional despicable people. A friend had the same experience

Yes don’t. New Hospital Beds are crazy expensive. I bought a very high-quality hospital Bed on craigslist for about $800. After my wife died about two years later, I sold it for $800.

They have bought many companies which makes it difficult. Some of the companies were good and are still good, some they have forced changes which are not great. If there is a medical need, be sure to get a script from a doctor. If it is going to be rented through insurance, you'll have the insurance company to help (assuming they have decent customer support).

I would look into rental.
You don't tell us the reason your mom requires this bed.
If she is on hospice or bedbound and will BE on hospice at some near point, a bed is provided (rented) free of cost during hospice. This is a reason some docs kind of fudge that "six months of life expectation". The equipment provided is a great cost saver to families and so is the help.

To be honest, if you are on Forum for any time you will see the numbers trying to get rid of beds they have bought. They usually end up giving them away. So keep an eye here, on NextDoor and other places for good used beds.

I don’t know anything about this brand specifically. However, people usually get beds ordered by their doctor and provided through their insurance. If for some reason your mother isn’t covered in this way, you may want to first check Craigslist, NextDoor, etc. for people selling or giving away hospital beds. That is how we got rid of my late father’s hospital bed.

However you obtain one, I recommend getting one that elevates up and down. Makes dressing, bed baths and other care much easier for the caregiver.
