Raidberry and Tripstix have you applied for Medical for your loved ones. Look into it on line. There is a program where you can get paid but I believe they have to be on Medical/Medicaid. It's called In Home Care Services I think. I'm sure more will comment with more information.

Speak with an attorney in your state regarding a Caregiver Agreement. Also, if you have been living with your parent as their caregiver in their home for a specified period of time, you may be able to have the title to their house transferred to you without a Medicaid penalty for gifting. Normally, a home is seen as an asset which would otherwise be considered available to a parent when it comes time to make application for Medicaid benefits for Nursing home care/placement, thus allowing a caregiver child who lives with mom or dad in their home to take title, and dad/mom able to gift the house under this special exemption. In any event, you should see a certified elder lawyer for Medicaid planning which will help you map out the time frame for spenddown of assets, the best way to accomplish same, the tax ramifications of gifting, and a projected date mom or dad will become Medicaid eligible.

Also, go to the VA website and look up the accredited VA attorneys who can help you with 1) making application for VA home placement (usually a waiting list) which may be necessary in the future and 2) obtaining access to any and all VA services (such as deeply discounted RXs directly fillable at your local VA hospital).
