Find Care & Housing
I know some might think my ways are a little harsh but my methods have reduced mom's A1C levels so much that her doctor sent my mom a letter congratulating her on getting her sugar levels under control!!! Even tho she promptly forgot about it, I kept the letter to remind me I was doing a good job!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to answer my question. I have gathered a lot of good tips and ideas from all of you. I appreciate it. I am so impressed with all that you are doing to care for your loved ones. I know how time consuming it is and you all are so dedicated.

I think that diet things is just one more thing to focus on and frankly I am feeling exhausted so I am encouraged that you are all walking a similar path.

Thanks again.

Hi, i feel the same way with my mom and her illness. The sweetes she horads in her room make her sicker but it’s all she has and i can’t bring myself to make her stop. As far as diet get informed abot the keto diet. Dr berg as a great YouTube channel that explains how to follow it. In combination learn about fasting from dr Jason Fung who also has a YouTube channel. Keto diet combined with intermittent fasting is the answer to obesity. Good luck

I do love intermittent fasting! It has helped me lose/maintain my weight. But I'm unsure if its good for an elder person. Between medications and blood sugar issues, I don't know if a fast would be healthy in that situation.

BTW if I make it until 90, I'm eating what I want and when I want. If it shortens my life at that point...I don't care.
