My mother has finally been approved for Medi-Cal which is Medicaid for California. I have no clue as to how to get her into a facility that takes Medi-Cal. Is there a website or phone number to call? A list? She is currently in AL but soon she will run out of money and will have to leave.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mstrbill, and everyone else thanks for your response. There is no social worker or ombudsman at the place she is currently at. It is a private owned house which the owner has transformed into an AL home. No medical services, only help with AL such as serving food and personal hygiene during the day. Any yes I am paying for half of her bill and she is paying the rest with her social security check. Financial I won't be able to pay much longer. 211 is not help as I have to leave a message and not one responds. Their search engine is down. I'll keep trying.

I'm so sorry you are in this situation. You shouldn't be paying out of your pocket for her care. She should be in a facility paid by Medi Cal. You need to call APS at the number I listed below and report a vulnerable adult. Your mom is at risk because soon she will be evicted and will have no place to go. Do not take her home with you. Tell the APS social worker she is going to need emergency placement. Since he is already approved for Medi Cal you are already ahead of the game. Don't call 211. Call 877-477-3646. You can also call the police as a very last resort as they have quicker and immediate contacts. (This is if it gets to the point of the current AL telling you to pick her up for non payment. DON'T PICK HER UP, call APS or the police)

I would check out numerous facilities and when you find the right one then ask the social workers at that facility to help you. I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

Ask her AL. They've seen dozens of people transported out to Medi-Cal SNFs, and probably have working relations with them.

I can't ask the AL. It is a privately owned personal home facility and if I ask I will be giving my 30 day notice. I can't give notice until I have another place for her to go. I have called a couple of places and no return calls. I'm not sure if I am calling the right places. This is why I am asking for help.

Hi Melodicmom, you posted a few months ago, did you contact a state social worker? If not, I posted a link above. If you can't open it, the numbers in Santa Clara ((I'm going by your profile, if you need a different county please let us know) are 408-755-7600 or 408-975-4900. Explain the situation and that your mom is going to need a place to go, they should be able to help.

Thanks. I have tried to find a place but no luck. I actually am in LA County. Santa Clarita. Can't find anything around here. Santa Clara is farther up north from me. I am stressing as I am in a time constraint.
