Possibly. Can he afford to self pay you? If he can, you’ll need to have a caregiver agreement drawn up. If he can’t, he may qualify for in-home support services. Part of the eligibility requirements for that is being eligible for medi-cal, over 65 & blind or disabled, and for a single person, their monthly income cannot exceed $1242 a month. If his income is over $1242 than he would have a share of cost that he may not be able to afford. For example, if his income is $1500 a month, he would pay $695 a month towards IHSS assuming his Medicare supplemental is $185. If his income is below $1242 a month then there is no share of cost.

he can apply for IHSS at the San Mateo county Department of Social Services.
