I tried blending it up and putting it in his food. Will he still get the sufficient amount of antibiotics even if he drinks or eats a small amount?

You need to be cautious about crushing medications. Some become ineffective.
Your friend should discuss this with the doctor. Many medications can be prescribed as a liquid others as a patch and some as a suppository. Any one of these might be easier for your friend

Some pills shouldn't be crushed because they are coated to protect the stomach or are timed release, and many are simply extremely bitter and nasty tasting. Talk to the pharmacist about this medication to figure out your options, doctors may know the body but it's pharmacists who are the experts on everything related to medications.
You might be able to help your friend get the whole pill down by putting it on a small spoonful of applesauce, pudding or jam.
