Yes, Linda, definitely check out your Area Agency on Aging. People who want to be engaged, get out, mingle, etc., are exactly what our communities need, so get out there! Hope you find some interesting folks and activities soon.

Hi Linda,

Call Your County Office of Aging. Ask them about Daycares in your area. The one Mom went to came and picked her up and brought her home. She had breakfast and lunch there. The aides gave her a shower for me. They had activities. For those able to, they took people shopping for groceries and to places like Walmart. You can go as often as you want. That depends on what u can pay. If ur low income, you may get help from Medicaid. All or part of the cost could be covered. I had also been told that some Assisted Livings allow non-residents to join in their activities for a small cost. The Office of Aging may have a bus that can take you to appointments and shopping.

Sexytootie, we don't know your community so we can't be very specific. Are you in the US? Each state has departments that know about the resources in each community. These Area Agencies on Aging can give you advice about what is available, how you can arrange transportation, and other considerations. Call them! They can help.

Other countries have similar resources, but I am not familiar with those.
