They said was 6 months and that was on Christmas of last year now she has bleeding on the brain where she had fallen at a facility she has to be in a lockdown unit she cannot live on her own or make her own decisions I am her only living sibling only closest I can we have no other family members but now they are telling me I need medical care of attorney to make decisions for her medical when I have been making decisions already she has had several strokes she's only 50 years old our mother died when she was 13 I was 17 so I've had to be the one to help take care of her even when she could take care of herself so I'm up and heads here I need medical power of attorney but I do not have no money to pay for this and she has been proven to be incompetent because she is dying if she has been in a memory Care facility and has to be in a lockdown unit she has behavior issues and I guess all of this has caused her to have dementia she is now in the hospital because she was unresponsive at a facility so they sent her out to the hospital where they found the bleeding on her brain they cannot do the surgery on her for that because it would be too much pain on her and plus she's dying anyway so what are my options here what can I do about this or I can make all the decisions medical any kind of decision there can possibly ever be with me being her only kin

As I read it you have POA for financial. No Medical was written up at the same time? No one was given Medical. Does she have a living will?

There should be a SW associated with the facility and the hospital. See if they can get you temporary healthcare proxy. Or, give u the number for Legal aide.

If she is dying, what decisions can you possibly make now. I would suggest Hospice. There will be no more hospitalization or extreme measures taken. She will be kept comfortable. A doctor can order this.

Tell them "NO".
They will not long attempt to save her against these impossible odds, which are about 1M to 1 survival from this.
Tell them you do not have MPOA, and it is too late to get it and you cannot afford an attorney nor have the competency to do POA.
Tell them you are not her POA and it is now too late for her to confer POA on you as she is no longer competent enough to do this. (which I must assume to be the case).

You can allow her to be a ward of the state if you like.
Tell them they can call in their social workers and arrange that.
You have not done this when it was possible to do. It is now too late.

There are really no decisions to be made now; they should place your sister under guardianship of the state and make her a palliative/Hospice care only patient.

I am so sorry for all she is going through, and all you are going through as well.
I wish her rest and peace.
I wish you relief from standing witness to this ongoing torment.

It sounds like it is too late for your sister to name anyone as power of attorney as she’s no longer capable of doing so with a sound mind. This may be out of your control. I’m sorry you’re going through such a tough time

Rachelbaby6997, unfortunately your post is very difficult to read when there is no punctuation.
