My wife is disabled and needs care 24/7. I recently had open heart surgery and was forced to hire outside agencies to care for both of us. I was already in bankruptcy and it cost me in access of $6000.00 for the time I used the agencies. I had to discontinue because of being unable to pay for their services. Can I receive financial assistance from VA as we both still need home health care?

Find Care & Housing
You may actually want to contact the VA Medical system about their Home Care program. Don't get excited, it may not deliver as much care to you as you need but it is at no cost to you the veteran. Your wife's needs would not be calculated into the "math" as she is not a veteran. I have recently heard of quite a few cut-backs in this program so I would definitely contact them and see what they are willing to deliver if anything at no charge to assist you.
