I recently experienced how dire the heathcare and senior care is first hand as my mother's last days were spent in a facility that should not be considered caring by any means. Would like to contribute something that could help improve that.

My Mom passed in 2017. I had become a member here before her death. Most of my questions concerning Medicaid were answered here. I am lucky to have an RN for a daughter who works in NHs. So she answered my questions once Mom was placed. Being a secretary for a VNA, I had learned a lot from the Nurses. After Moms passing, I felt I could still contribute, so I stayed.

Aha! STAY RIGHT HERE. DON'T MOVE.
Seriously, there are many here caring for people who have a ton of questions about medications.
You could be an enormous force for good by opening a discussion thread that you are a licensed pharmacist and open to discussion about medications. You can't advise what patients can take, of course, but you sure could advise them to check their blood pressure sitting and standing if on blood pressure meds, to understand they may have higher pressures in the office than at home when relaxed. About medication interactions and help guide them to good internet information.

I'm so sorry for your loss and that your Mother's care was not what she deserved. Spend some time reading the rainbow of issues on this forum. Your Mother's experience was not my MIL's experience (she passed in December after being in an awesome facility for 7 years on Medicaid). And having been PoA for 2 other elderly Aunts in another state from me, no 2 experiences have been the same so far. Not every facility is awful. Generally, the good ones are eye-wateringly expensive (but my MIL's was not -- it was a non-profit faith-based one). Many here share your outrage at the quality of facility care, and the cost of caregiving in general. I wish you all the best as you think about where to put your efforts for improvements.
