He denies it to the dr. When he wakes he will toss and turn, shake the bed until he knows I'm awake and then he wants to talk until all hours of the night.I don't want to hurt his feelings but I'm excausted the next day and I have a lot of work to do in caring for him and running a household. He naps during the day and I'm beginning to resent him.

I would keep a record for a few days of how much he sleeps, including naps and check with the doctor. Then I would sleep in another room.

At that age he may have dementia.Or a sleeping disorder. You need to let his doctor know this information. If your affraid to tell his doctor in person.Write a letter to his doctor explaining all of whats going on.As small things become big problems if not addressed soon enough.

I would tell your husband how this is affecting you, and that he should tell the doctor what's going on. Since he is napping during the day, this too will interefere with his sleep. I have sleep problems and am in treatment for depression and sleep issues. Napping in a no-no. I am sure that for him it is too. You are important, and in order to take care of him you need to be rested, so tell him he needs to stop. Many have to sleep separately in order for both to rest comfortably, that may be an option. I hope you get some rest.

Does your husband have dementia? Perhaps that is why he is waking and talking on and on. I agree with above post. You need your sleep too. If you have a bed in another room, I would sleep there as he appears to be in denial of what is happening. He has to understand about your sleep requirements as well. Hopefully, you can work something out. Take care.

Why not wake him from his naps to talk. Can you explain how hurtful this behaviour is to you, how resentment is building? Maybe you could sleep in another room till he gets the message, that you need your sleep. Without sleep you start to run on empty. It is dangerous to your health to allow this situation to continue. .
