My husband has younger onset Dementia most likely frontotemporal dementia with Parkinson like symptoms. Parkinson medication has not stopped the shaking hands. He suffers from extreme anxiety, poor balance, reluctance to chew and swallow his food, drooling and poor eye sight amongst others.
He does not accept he has Dementia. He is convinced he will be 100% again if he could get his drooling to stop and get the poor vision corrected. As I post this we are at his GP again to ask him to recommend the right “eye doctor” who knows what they are doing, again. He can’t be distracted or swayed from this. He is totally convinced it is all about fixing this.
Is is there any way to get him to realise that these things are caused by his condition?
perhaps he will recommend surgery to tighten the muscle if he thinks it is severe enough. Five week wait till appointment. Goes for 90 minutes. It will be hard getting through that length of time
This is an obsession like any other that people with dementia have. It takes extreme patience to deal with them. Sending hugs and understanding.
