My husband told the doctor that he was just going to go blind in his eye and he had an eye doctor tell him that. So when the doctor looked at me I just told him that he hadn't seen an eye doctor in about 3 years. We went to see an eye doctor. Anyway, my husband isn't making sense. He is telling me when his son called and when I call his son, his son says no, they didn't call but we can come over. Is this the beginning of dementia or something else. Otherwise, he still seems normal and this only has happened two or three times in the past week.

I have him evaluated by his doctor. Once a week is too often.

No one could make a diagnosis from a 5-sentence description, but clearly something is not right here. It sounds like Hubby may be confusing memories (going to an eye doctor in the past, talking to his son, etc.) with worries and wishes (going blind, seeing son, etc.) and losing a sense of time. I guess this isn't necessarily dementia, but it is not normal and a medical examination is called for. Let the doctor know about your observations before your husband sees him or her.

Best wishes to you as you sort this out.

My mom started with small things like your husband . It went on to others like lies misplacing items and so on ... This went on in slow motion for 5 years I kept telling my moms dr there was something not right and of course she brushed me off for years till a year ago when she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's !!! And now at 59 she needs full time care . I seen it coming on and my moms dr refused to hear me out ... Bring him in n speak to dr at least it's on record the more it happens the more the dr will be aware something is not right ... I wish u the best of luck

If it has just happened in the last week, get a blood test for stroke. ASAP

Oh, Fancicoffee, ! I didn't realize it was you. Oh, Honey he's been a bit off and passing out for quite a while. YES tell the MD and get yourself a good checkup too, this has all been so exhausting for you. You need a good vacation and I hope you get one.

Also get him checked for a UTI (urinary tract infection). That can cause weird behavior in people and is pretty easy to treat. Just get him to a doctor ASAP and get him all checked out. Please keep us posted...

Fancicoffee7, has your husband started any new medicine? Or the same medicine by a different manufacturer? You'd be surprised how medicine and/or the fillers in medicine can cause physical and mental side effects.

Marion, he has a strong Alzheimer's thing in his family. He is following in his brother's way. He is starting to count alot. Like counting the numbers on the tv. And just little things like lying about money, and other little things. I am just hoping he won't get it-Alzheimer's. But, we have doctors keeping a close watch on him. A kidney doctor, heart doctor and lung doctor. And no, he is not on any new medications. Nothing that would cause this.
