He puts pants on, then takes them off, several times, until I intervene.  Today he put on shorts over his long pants, and couldn't understand why he shouldn't leave them on. Any Suggestions?

He has reached the point where he needs assistance with dressing. I suggest selectind no more than two "outfits" for him to choose between. Then lay out or hand to him each article of clothing in the correct order. He will be less frustrated that way.

I lay out one outfit and allow husband to wake & dress himself to retain a bit of independence. Most of the time he does ok, sometimes he has found my pants & put them on or two pair of his pants at one time. I leave him be as most likely we will be in the house anyway. Some nights he will not remove his clothes ( he always ends up taking them off & folding during the night) but I just let him sleep in them rather then kick the skunk or create a problem I didn't have prior. It's way too difficult to try to make him understand he made a mistake in clothing choices when he believes he looks good....Que Sera Sera

At one point my Mom would soil her clothes and hide them or hang them back up in her closet. That was the time when I would limit the clothes in her closet. I only give her one set of clothes, if they end up missing I know what to look for. When I cleaned out her closet, she came and got me and said that someone had stolen her clothes and she though it must be the Freshman girls, she didn't mind them borrowing them but they must give them back. (I guess she thought she was in college). Anyway, as the others have stated before, limit what he has access to and assist him on getting dressed. If I tell Mom to put her nightgown on she puts it over her clothes, or takes her shirt off then puts on her nightgown and puts her shirt back on. At one point I hid her shoes thinking if she didn't have them she wouldn't try to open the door at 3AM and escape. Now, she tries to escape barefooted, hiding shoes doesn't help now.
