Find Care & Housing
The clues Margaret gave are good ones. Not eating has always been my warning sign that the process is starting. When they stop taking fluids, you are often with in days. While the physical stuff will give clues, gut instinct has worked for me.

Hi Edmond,
Without more information it is difficult to answer this question.
As a Nurse Anesthetist I have seen many people at the end of their lives, and each one is different.
In general, everything slows down. People stay in bed and sleep a great deal, some are agitated, others peaceful.
There is usually a loss of interest in eating and drinking.
Breathing slows.
But again, I do not know if you mean when it's almost the end in terms of weeks//days or hours.
Write back with more info if I can help.
Best
Margaret
