Like Barb said. You can no longer reason with her, she has lost the ability. The ability to process. Its like dealing with a toddler.

I read ur profile. If this is getting too much for you, its time to place her. The sooner you place her the better for her. She gets used to her surroundings and excepts it as home. Dementia only worsens and becomes a 24/7 job. The cost of homecare is high. If she has no money, than u can apply for Medicaid.

Where are grandma's children? You really should be concentrating or ur job and ur 10 yr old and your future.

Hi Demamdatory - who are they that are touching your washer/dryer? Are you referring to your grandmother who has Alzheimer's?

For my mother who also has Alzheimer's, in order to stop her from touching, opening, taking things, I had to put locks on the fridge doors, all cabinets, front door, back door, glass door, and anywhere I didn't want her to get into. She even picked all the fruits (ripe or not) off of the trees, so I had to put up cages around the trees to block her from getting to the fruits.

Are you washer and dryers in the laundry room, or garage, or somewhere that you can close the door and lock? That's probably the only way to stop your grandmother from getting to them.

Demandatory, welcome!!!

I think of "setting boundaries" as deciding that there are things that you will and won't do--it's about changing YOUR behavior.

You really can't have any expectation that a dementia patient has any control over their behavior.

Have you watched any Teepa Snow videos about dealing with dementia patients?
