Find Care & Housing
tracicapelli, are you asking if the local government would pay you to take care of your Mom-in-law if your had a caregiver's license? Or asking if you need a license for your Mom-in-law to pay you directly?

If Mom-in-law pays you directly, you don't need a license. If your rather have a license and take courses [that would be great to have the extra knowledge], be hired by an Agency where they pay payroll taxes and have workman's comp, and your client be your Mom-in-law, remember she would need to pay the Agency from her own pocket.

Otherwise, see if Mom-in-law can qualify for Medicaid. In some States you can be paid for a few hour per week via Medicaid, and may or may not need a license... each State has their own rules and programs.
