Does anyone have any recommendations for how I'd find someone to visit my mother once a week for a couple of hours to assist with administrative tasks, opening mail, bill paying, basic computer help, etc? She's just outside of Ocala, in Morriston. I've been doing this all remotely and it's caused issues between my mother and I emotionally and also just been extremely difficult to keep up with. I also think having an outside person visiting once a week who could give me perspective on how she looks and is acting would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!

If the person is going to be opening mail and paying bills, I would hire thru an agency who does thorough background checks, and bonds their employees. I would be very careful because of the possibility of financial fraud and/or identity theft which can be devastating.

jdubberkeley, I see you are looking for Admin help instead of caregiving. I suggest you call your county Agency on Aging to see if they have a list of companies or individuals who are good at bookkeeping and at using the computer.

You could also call various nationwide caregiving Agencies as sometimes they have on Staff a caregiver who does "Admin" type work. It would be worth a call. It would be best to have the same person come each time so you don't need to train a new person.

Now, here is a question, would your Mom be willing to pay for such work? One has to be very careful if hiring a person out of the blue. Does your Mom know of any young neighbors who are home during the day who would love to make some extra money?

Look up Visiting Angels. There is one in Ocala. My SIL works for one in PA. You can schedule them as you see fit, with some parameters (they may have a minimum hour stay). I had a similar company in with my dad in Tampa. They came in for 3 hours every other day for light housekeeping, cooking meals, and companionship.
