My aunt has a walker with small wheels. She wants to change one with big wheels. How should she do that? Where can she change it? Thank you for your detailed solution.

Find Care & Housing
I you are talking about a standard walker with wheels only in the front, these wheels can be taken off and the bigger ones put on. Where the buttons are to adjust height, that piece comes off and you replace it with a piece with larger wheels. Here is a picture of what I am talking about

Why does she want to change her walker? You need a PT to evaluate what type of walker is best for her. Medicare will pay for a new one with a prescription every 5 years. As a PT, I am leery of wheeled walkers as they can be dangerous and not provide correct support and balance. We need more information as to why she wants this. Has she had a change in her physical status or abilities?

Many towns have community closets filled with donated supplies for free. Call your senior center or social services department. You can also call your surrounding towns.

There are tons of walkers on the market nowadays. It's impossible to give you "detailed solutions" to such a general question! I suggest you look on Amazon for a preferred walker, or ask a physical therapist if aunties wheels are interchangeable on her walker. Many are not.

Good luck to you.
