My mother in law has stopped swallowing with adavanced Alzheimer's. Caregivers  still give her thickened pedialyte. Getting any pedialyte in her is obviously difficult since she is not swallowing. But the caregivers say she is getting a few ounces a day. How long could my mother in law go on like this?

She is on hospice. She is at home. It is very tough to watch. Getting anything in her is very hard.

Katie, is your mom in a nursing home? Have you thought about asking for hospice care?
