micalost, yes empaths burn out. I had a friend, Maria, who would read palms for people and she was astoundingly accurate at channeling in. She stopped doing it because it was so painful. She could see bad things coming and people don't want to hear that stuff.

when i first moved into my apartment building of 500 people, I was overwhelmed by all the "voices" and "presences".... had to make a conscious effort to cut that down. I was still aware of the emotions of the building though.
Then my mom w/ alzheimer moved in next door .
