Find Care & Housing
HI TrixyRose
Have you considered hospice? They might be able to help you. If your LO is considered terminal, Medicare will cover hospice in your home. Give them a call if you haven’t already.

I have great success in dividing up meds and offering them even a few minutes apart as my dementia patient doesn’t remember she just took the first batch.

I noticed that on WebMD lactulose can be taken in fruit juice or pudding.

There is a book you might find helpful. “Being Mortal, Medicine and What Matters in the End” by Atul Gawande.
You can google articles and interviews by Dr Gawande and it might help you understand what’s truly important to your LO.

This is a tough time. He is so fortunate to have you by his side. Take care and come here for support. We care.

There are ways you can "sneak" it into food. Some pills can be crushed and mixed with pudding, applesauce, ice cream....
Liquids can be added to almost any food.
Some can not or should not be cut, crushed or broken so read the info first.
Many can be prescribed as a patch rather than oral so if you are finding it a real problem talk to the doctor.
At some point some medications become unnecessary discuss all the medications both prescribed and over the counter and see what ones can be eliminated. Sometimes a doctor will prescribe one medication then later prescribe another but the first prescription continues to get filled.
With some medications, pick your battle. Maybe not important to take that daily vitamin but more important to take the blood pressure med.
Split up the number that are being taken if possible so some in the morning, some in the afternoon and some in the evening so it is not like you're taking a hand full of pills at one time.
