My elderly Dad had a 36 hour spell of total confusion and delirium. He has very limited mobility and cannot get to his doctor. His doctor recommended hospice. they came out but will not do any blood work or urinalysis to help determine what caused this.

Wait a minute. Hospice means no more tests, no more procedures or prodding. The MD already has tests that indicate the patient is terminal or they would not refer him to Hospice. So decide which way you want to go.
A hospice physician will only provide comfort care. There are no more trips to the ER, just comfort care at home.
