When I sign documents for my husband, how do I put POA on the paper?

How do the people know I really have POA? I have POA over my husband. There should be a card or something for me to carry in my opinion. Know nothing much about this aspect. What if he goes into the hospital and I sign POA, how will the hospital know I really have POA? Thank you

Any place where you need to sign as Power of Attorney will want to see a copy of said POA. That way, whomever requests it can scan it into their files. Don't be surprised if the hospital asked for other legal documents, such as an Advance Medical Directive, if your husband had signed one.

freqflyer is right. Carry the papers with you. Also, I used to write "Power of Attorney" after signing anything on behalf of my dad.

Copies should be on file with all doctors, pharmacies, etc. and yes, do indicate "POA for _______" after signing anything on behalf of family member.

My husband signs everything "attorney-in-fact." After his name he writes "attorney-in-fact for [insert name of parent(s)]" You need not be an attorney to be an attorney-in-fact.
