Find Care & Housing
My cousin hired a medical ambulance company who does this type of work as well. Not sure of the cost, but at least they have all the medical equipment on board. Also, she was only traveling apx. 300 miles. There was a nurse who accompanied her. Calling the ambulance co. for advice might be a good start....they have the most expertise in transport.
good luck....let us know what you find

Did you ever sort a solution for this? I'm now in a similar situation with my mother - need to move her from NY to Florida, and would like to learn from someone else's experience.

I am in the same situation, trying to move my 94 yr old grandmother from Arkansas to Virginia Beach, a medical cargo van and medical team might be a good option, not sure what they charge, I have submitted a quote from this website to see. My grandmother is confined to a hospital bed. Hope this was helpful

thank you. the train trip is too long and we'd have to change trains in New Orleans. thinking about renting an RV.....not a van....but maybe an idea.

Also, what about taking the train, and using the sleeper cabin option?

I have a couple of questions. Can any insurance she has help financially? Does she have to have a 'medical bus'? I mean if she only needs to lie down, can you rent a cargo type van and drive her, bed and all?
