Find Care & Housing
This has to be frightening for you. I am so sorry that you are struggling with this situation. Do you work outside of your home? How can you watch her 24/7? Do you have outside help in caring for her? Can you hire a companion to walk with her? I hope you are able to resolve this issue soon.

Here is an excellent article from the Alzheimer's organization about wandering and tips to prevent it:

You cannot 'keep mom safe when she wants to walk without anyone.' Such a thing is simply not possible when dementia/ Alzheimer's is present!

Have you thought about placing her in a Memory Care home? At some point, most people suffering this disease become too much to handle at home, and the dangers become just too great to stay at home. If you haven't looked into MC options, you may want to start now.

Best of luck!

Seniors who have dementia don't really have the best judgment when it comes to their own safety. Perhaps, she will adjust to being supervised with her walks. I would think she would welcome the company.
