You need to go to your Social Service Dept in your County. Office of Aging maybe able to help you.

SSI...is a supplimental income that is provided by the state.

SSD...is Social Security disability. This one you need to apply for before you are eligible for SS at the age of 62. Social Service can help u with that application. If turned down, then u get a SS lawyer to file an appeal. He receives his pay from the retro money you receive if you end up getting SSD.

With SSI you get Medicaid. With SSD you get Medicare and Medicaid.

Hope this info helps. If not, may need more info on how you went from a nice Apt w/savings to needing help.

yes, we need more clarification. Its confusing exactly what she is asking or trying to say. Going from a nice apartment with savings to SS or SSDI is not something one would want to do.

You get there by getting sick or disabled and in need of home health services or assisted living services. Then your savings are eaten up by the cost of those services. Then when you can no longer pay for those services you need to rely on the government for assistance.
