My mom has Alzheimer’s & was in a care facility until her money ran out. She’s been living with my husband & I for 2 years now. Her health is good, it’s just her mind. I struggle daily with many different things because everyday is different. Lately it’s been a struggle getting her to move around. She sleeps in her chair & then has trouble sleeping at night. PLEASE HELP. I need ideas. She doesn’t have a hobby & I’ve tried everything.

Thankfully she doesn’t wander & I pray that doesn’t start. I bought my mom a kindle to play games on because she used to love to play solitaire & gin rummy so I downloaded them on the kindle but she won’t play it. There’s days that I can’t get her motivated & I get frustrated. Then I feel guilty for being flustered. I rarely get to go places because I have to have someone here & I know that just fuels my frustrations. After 2 years, this is still very hard.

My husband does the same thing. He sleeps all afternoon and then not at night. Short of throwing cold water on him, I can’t keep him awake. Does she wander the house at night and keep you awake? I got my husband an iPad and when he can’t sleep at night, he plays video games on it.

Have you considered applying for Medicaid for your Mom?
