She has Medicare. Before I can get her into an assisted living home I need to have Medicaid in place. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a place near me in Naples or Ft.Myers area I could go to and get an application.
Also before I can get info from on-line sites, they want an e-mail..most elderly do not have a computer or e-mail.so I have used mine. Any problem with that?
Thank-you

Financial is important but you also need to consider that she will need to qualify medically for the level of service that Medicaid will be paying for. For NH, that's skilled nursing care. For at home community based services, it's a lower level of skill needed (and provided for). Most AL is private pay unless your state does a waiver program and the AL facility takes the waiver (they don't have to participate just like some NH do not participate in Medicaid), so they would need to qualify for whatever is the medically necessary level of care required to get a waiver.

I just wrote about this for AgingCare:

It explains the entire Medicaid process, the 5 year look back, etc...

Here is the website to file an on-line application for Medicaid.

Florida's on-line system works very well and it is the only way to go. Anyone can file the application. Neither the applicant nor the claimant need have an email address as all paperwork will be sent through the mail. You can have correspondence sent to your home address in lieu of mom's. Make sure her assets are under $2,000 and her income is under $2,130 before you apply.
