You might also ask your local church, Catholic Charities, or a Christmas in October (or similar "handyman" organization).

How high does the ramp have to go?
In my area, the code says for every 1 inch of height (the porch or doorway), one needs the ramp to be one foot long.
A 27 inch high porch would need to be 27 feet long.

But don't take my word for it. Directions and measurements are online, and at
Home Depot.

Our ramp used 3 eight foot plywood boards to cover it, so it was 24 ft. long.

Yikes, hope I have got that right.

The Handiworker Program put the stairs back, I no longer need a wheelchair.

Try the Department of disabilities. A friend was able to get a ramp thru them.

You might try your local governmental aging office. They usually know of any available community resources.

Do you want to get help building it, or have it done for you?
My hubs and I were building our own, and had to hire the neighborhood handyman to finish it up.

The Area Agency on Aging (through our senior center) has a handiworker program. It is free.
