He has tried to get my social security number from me, which leads me to believe there is money for me.

rbs, if you are on any kind of public assistance such as SSI or food stamps (SNAP) or HEAP an inheritance will cause all of that to STOP until you spend down again. FYI.

Ok, so give us some detail. Did someone actually die? Then you get the Will at the courthouse. If we are talking about someone who has not died yet, nobody gets to see the Will.

my problem with hiring my own lawyer is I'm disabled and can't afford to I'm living off of Social Security myself

If a will was probated, it is public info available at your courthouse or county. Insurance, banks, etc. have forms to fill out and without your social security nbr, why would he even try. If there are other people involved in the inheritance, you might check with them to find out if a distribution has happened.

If it involves enough money, you may be wise to hire an investigator.
