You are a nurse, so talk to the social worker at your place of employment.

denimjade, it sounds like you need some help. Does your mother have any income? If she is at a point where she needs constant supervision and you need to work, you may want to see about enrolling her in adult daycare or finding an assisted living facility for her. Sometimes we can want to be the caregiver, but the logistics don't work out. There are several other options. I would look for the one that best fits your needs and wants.

It would be wonderful if all of us were wealthy and we could afford to quit our jobs to take care of our loved ones. Usually it isn't the case, though. We just have to do the best we can.

Medicaid may be a good option at this point. A social worker should be able to suggest options and starting points for you. Another option is to call the Social Services department of you county and ask for a needs assessment for Mom.

Her pension is too much to qualify for medicaid and i make too much when i'm able to go to work. I have a good job i just need to be able to get caregivers but they want way too much money to supply the care.

I am sorry for your predicament. What happens with your mother, if you are unable to care for her? What if you get sick, or worse?

I think that it is time to look for 24/7 care for your mom. You can't do all things and don't lose your job. You need your own health insurance and retirement.

Keep reading other other people's stories here. There are some people with a lot of experience with what you are going through. You must be aware of how much longer your mom could live and how much worse she will get.

Good luck to you.
