Are you the executor of his estate? If so you can endorse it as the executor and deposit it. If you have an account set up for his estate, it is best to put it there. If not, just deposit it to your own account. There shouldn't be any problem. It may be safest if you ask your bank official if it is okay to put it in your personal account if you don't have an estate account set up.

Donna, can you verify, are you getting an actually paper check from Social Security, or was this a direct deposit or debit card SS payment?

I would go to your nearest Social Security office so that they can figure out if it would benefit you to receive your husband's SS or to continue with the amount you are getting. You are able to get the highest amount of the two. But not both amounts.

Also note, for safety reasons, social security will usually direct deposit a SS check into your account or if you have no checking/savings account then you would get the SS amount via a debit card.

We can't even get SS checks except through direct deposit. This is the first I've heard of checks in a while.
