demonspirit12, the vast majority of people helping others at home do not get paid.... unless the patient can pay from their own retirement fund.

Check with your State Medicaid office to see if such a program exist where you can be paid. But note the pay will be minimal. And there could be a waiting list. With State budget cuts, some programs are being eliminated do to the reduced Federal funding for the States.
