How did you obtain the homecare aide. Did you hire her? You had money at the time but not now? If so, you need to tell her you don't have money. You then need to call your Medicaid office and see if you qualify for homecare.

Semi4603, we need more information. Such as are you using a home care caregiver for yourself, or for a love one? Will the caregiver work shift work or be live-in? Is there enough in savings to pay for a caregiver or does one have long-term-care insurance?

i have a home care aid. its a few days week. not live in. i have no extra money to pay her. what can i do

Some supplement insurances provide a limited number of hours per week. Medicaid also provides limited in home care if you can qualify. I understand the VA has a program for veterans and their widowed spouses. I suggest calling the local Area Council on Aging to find out what programs are offered in your area. Also consider Adult Day Care options as these care provide supervision and basic care in addition to structure and socialization.
