Thank you for your feedback it truly helps. I have spoken with a Director of Assisted Living and some I have read I heard from her. In CaringWifeAZ mentioned about going to a nursing home that offers rehab before bringing her home was part of our discussion. I do agree bringing mom home would not be a safe option and it would not work financially. My brother is still working to get mom on Medicaid and I'm getting help from a Director of Assisted Living with the decision making of mom's wellbeing. I am going online to find facilities near me that would be a good fit for mom. Plus, some friends and aquatintists are trying to help with their advice. We received a lot of information at one time and a small window to work in. I am glad mom doesn't have the feeding tube any longer, so no surgery of it put into her stomach. Mom is improving in her eating small bits of food, but she still needs monitoring. Due to the strokes, mom speaks in a slur, and it can be difficult to communicate; however, last night's visit with mom at the hospital, I did make out her saying "be careful" when I was leaving for home. And that is the one thing I want to be is careful in making the right decision for mom. I care about her nutrition, safety and wellbeing. I also do not want to be in financial ruins at the same time. I would like to have another meeting with the director, but I probably won't see her until after Thanksgiving. This can be nerve racking.
I never spent any of my own money and by law you are obligated to.

Your Mom seems to still be in the hospital, or in rehab. Assisted Living is not 24/7 care. LTC is. Maybe you need to wait for her to finish her rehab and then have her assessed to see what level will be appropriate for her?
Is she currently ambulatory? Can she feed herself? Can she do any ADLs right now? It may be too early to judge.
I'm glad she was able to avoid a feed tube...
